The Talking Europe video blog – whose original objective was and remains to showcase Europe-related research conducted at Birkbeck – is curated by the Jean Monnet Chair holder and will also be used to inform the wider public about activities organised under the auspices of this Monnet Chair.

20 SEPTEMBER 2022 EUROPE'S PORTS
- An event co-organised by Dr David Styan, Birkbeck's Department of Politics, bringing together established as well as younger scholars.
NOVEMBER 24-25 2022 AUTHORS' WORKSHOP ON THE POLITICISATION OF EU EXECUTIVE LEADERSHIP SELECTION
- This international collaborative project is directed by Matilde Ceron (EUI), Thomas Christiansen (LUISS Guido Carli, Rome) and Dionyssis G Dimitrakopoulos (Birkbeck). Scholars from several European universities gathered at Birkbeck to present the first versions of their papers and receive feedback on them. The corresponding book will be published in early 2024 by Palgrave/Springer.

INAUGURAL JEAN MONNET LECTURE
- Delivered by Ms Emily O'Reilly, European Ombudsman. EU accountability: an Ombudsman perspective
- This event took place on Tuesday 23 February 2021.
- Ms Emily O'Reilly was first elected by the European Parliament in 2013 and re-elected in 2014 and 2019 - has been instrumental in improving transparency in EU decision making and promoting higher ethical standards in EU administration. We are delighted that she agreed to give the inaugural Jean Monnet lecture.
