Accommodation for families and couples
Family
If you will be living with family members while you study at Birkbeck, you may need to be prepared to make special arrangements. Unfortunately, you cannot apply for accommodation for families via Birkbeck - all rooms in our partner halls of residence are for single or couple occupancy only.
If you are a full-time student looking for accommodation for your family you can apply directly to the University of London for a flat at International Hall.
Family flats are also available in Goodenough College and other independent halls of residence.
The Housing Associations below offer family accommodation at subsidised rates, but have long waiting lists so you should submit your application as soon as you possibly can. Flats can become available throughout the year.
- Nansen Village Housing Association, 2 bedrooms flats and bungalows
- Zebra Housing Association Limited, 1+ bedroom flats
Alternatively, you can opt for private accommodation. The University of London Housing Services offers a range of services to assist and support students who are looking for and living in private accommodation in London:
- help finding accommodation
- contract checking
- legal advice
- housing events.
Couples
For couples, a number of studios or rooms for double occupancy are usually available as part of the College allocation in partner hall (Intercollegiate Halls of Residence). New full-time students can apply for these following the process described in Accommodation for new students. These are not available to returning students.
Couples' accommodation is also available at Goodenough College and other independent halls of residence.
The Housing Associations below offer couple accommodation at subsidised rates:
- Nansen Village Housing Association, studios and one-bedroom flats
- Zebra Housing Association Limited, studios and flats.
These halls are not affiliated to Birkbeck and this list is for information purposes only. You must apply directly to the organisation for accommodation.
