Getting support at Birkbeck
To ensure support is available for you from the start of your course, we recommend taking the following steps:
- Discuss your condition and the available support options during a confidential, face-to-face drop-in appointment with one of our team at an Open Evening.
- Disclose your disability when you apply for your course.
- Complete a Study Support Plan.
- Apply for the Disabled Students’ Allowance.
Arranging temporary parking
If you have a Blue Disabled Person's Badge, and you are coming to Birkbeck for an interview or to attend a short course, we may be able to arrange disabled parking in one of the Senate House car parks. In order to arrange this, email the Disability and Dyslexia Service with the make, colour and registration of your car and your Blue Disabled Person's Badge number.
Disclosing your disability
When you apply for a place at Birkbeck, you will be asked to disclose information about your disability, so we can put appropriate measures in place to support you during your studies.
All information disclosed is dealt with securely, in line with our confidentiality policy.
Referring a student
If you are a lecturer who feels a student needs support, you are welcome to contact us directly, or give our contact information to your student.
