The Aziz Foundation Postgraduate Scholarships
Birkbeck, University of London is pleased to be a University Partner of the Aziz Foundation.
The Aziz Foundation offer full tuition fee scholarships to support British Muslims to study at master’s level. The scholarships are aimed at those who wish to advance in their careers and bring positive change to their communities and beyond. The scholarships cover those interested in the following subject areas:
- Media and Journalism
- Technology
- Sustainability/Environment
- Law
- Policy
- Creative Content.
About the Funder
- The Aziz Foundation was set up in 2015 by the Aziz family. The foundation’s guiding philosophy and key principle is to support British Muslims to bring positive change to their communities and beyond.
- The Foundation recognises that education creates opportunities for social mobility and they are driven to reduce equality gaps through their scholarships programme and other initiatives, which aim to increase access to postgraduate education. To date the foundation has supported more than 400 scholarships for British Muslim students. They also offer careers guidance and networking opportunities for their scholars and alumni.
Value of the Award
- This is a full fee scholarship for a home student studying at master's level. This can be for a full-time or part-time course.
Eligibility
- The Aziz Foundation award scholarships to eligible students studying master's degrees at institutions who are part of their Preferred Partners scheme, of which Birkbeck is a member.
- Scholarships are awarded to individuals with career aspirations in the following areas:
- Media and Journalism
- Technology
- Sustainability and Environment
- Law
- Policy (excluding Health Policy)
- Creative Content.
- In addition, applicants should meet all of the following requirements:
- Be eligible for Home fees status
- Be active within a Muslim community and demonstrate intimate knowledge of issues affecting British Muslim communities
- Demonstrate long-term commitment to community and societal development
- Show how the course will increase their effectiveness in one of the following areas relating to British Muslims:
- Effective advocacy and enhance public perception
- Community service and social development
- In addition to the above, you will have to demonstrate that you would not be able to self-fund your course. The foundation will ask for information to determine your financial means.
How to Apply
- You are able to apply through the Aziz Foundation website.
- To successfully be awarded a scholarship, you must demonstrate that you have been accepted on to a master's course at Birkbeck.
Application deadline
- Applications are open from January until July each year. Please check on the Aziz Foundation website for further information.
