Fundraising for the Birkbeck Fund
You can make a difference to someone’s life today by donating to the Birkbeck Fund. The fund provides the same opportunities to ambitious students of all ages, professions, backgrounds and cultures by focusing on three main areas:
Access
Enabling students from all walks of life to study at Birkbeck by supporting:
- Foundation Year Success Bursary A cash award that empowers students to succeed during their first year of undergraduate study by helping to remove financial barriers and support those who have demonstrated great potential
- Access to Postgraduate Study Scholarship A non-repayable grant to support students whose circumstances or background may mean they face barriers accessing education or may face greater challenges
- Access to Digital Learning Fund Cash awards for undergraduate, postgraduate and research Home students who are unable to pay for the cost of essential IT resources such as a laptop and key items, to ensure that they can successfully engage with online study
- Birkbeck Cash Bursary A bursary based on intensity of study and household income to assist with the costs of study, such as purchasing books, printing and travelling to lectures
- Childcare Fund Funding for up to 99 hours of childcare per term depending on intensity of study to help single parents whilst attending classes, either in person or online
Hardship
Helping our students continue and complete their studies by supporting:
- Birkbeck Needs-Based Assessment Fund Awards for students who may require additional financial support to meet their living and study costs while they are studying
- Birkbeck Hardship Fund Support towards unexpected costs that have been incurred as a result of an emergency or unforeseen change in a student’s personal situation
- Graduation Fund Supports undergraduate students who feel they can’t attend their graduation due to financial reasons
Research innovation
Enabling word-class leading research at Birkbeck by supporting:
- Research Innovation Fund Funding to support and encourage innovative new projects across the university and strengthen our commitment to supporting emerging and returning researchers.
